The Polish side received a comment from the Belarusian government. According to Minister of Foreign Affairs Siarhei Alenik Sikorski's declaration is contradictory with what the Polish government indicated a few weeks earlier. At the end of May, Prime Minister Donald Tusk talked about the possibility of resuming work on the Bobrowniki – Berestowica section if the services agree.

Belarus. They responded to Sikorski's words

Alejnik stated that if Sikorski's vision is realized, there will be an “escalation.” According to the Belarusian politician, both sides will suffer.

– It should be understood that these appeals and these proposals are directed not only against Polish citizens and Polish regions, economic development of Polish regions. But also against many other citizens of the EU, the CIS (Common Independent States – ed.) and the so-called Greater Eurasia – he explained, quoted by Belsat.

Alejnik added that closing the border crossings would not stop the flow of migrants. He argued that foreigners most often choose illegal crossings rather than legal and open ones.

Close colleague Alexander Lukashenko he said that the solution to the misunderstanding could be dialogue between Warsaw and Kiev. – If Poland is ready for this, at least in terms of border issues or border cooperation, which were interrupted on the initiative of the Polish side and other European partners, then we are ready to discuss these topics – noted the head of Belarusian diplomacy.

Belsat points out that the minister did not mention a word that migrants in the border zone are organized by Belarusian services. It is Russia and Belarus that have artificially created a migration route that they can close at any time. The station reminds that, contrary to the words of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the biggest loss from closing the borders would be… Belarus, which relies largely on the transit of goods between Asia and Europe.

Sikorski's clear declaration. It's about border crossings

– In connection with the actions of Belarus We are considering the possibility of closing all border crossings – Radosław Sikorski said on Saturday on TVN24.

The head of Polish diplomacy confirmed that this solution is being analyzed in terms of possible consequences. – We are examining the consequences of such a decision for the Polish economy and local communities – he emphasized. Sikorski cited an example Finland. He argued that “the Finns have closed the border crossings with Russia and the problem is over.”

There are two border crossings on the Polish-Belarusian border (Terespol – Brześć and Kukuryki – Kozłowicze – ed.). The remaining four are closed for a reason migration crisis and in protest against holding journalist Andrzej Poczobut in captivity.
