The former president spoke about this case in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 Bronislaw Komorowski.

– First of all, it proves that Belarus is already a fully non-sovereign state, since it is Putin, not Lukashenko, who decides and announces that he will place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, which means that he has reset the independence of Belarus – he stated.

– Secondly, it means that Putin is using a certain advantage that Russia, once the Soviet Union, gained over the forces of the Western world at the time when the terms of the liquidation of a significant part of the nuclear arsenals on both sides were being negotiated – he added.

– After the collapse of the Soviet Union, after the prospects for peace, Russia agreed to the Western proposal for reductions. And nuclear weapons were reduced, only not reduced in the same way. Once upon a time in the West FOR THIS huge quantities of tactical nuclear weapons, for example, mines, were prepared (…). All these resources have been destroyed. Russia has retained part of its nuclear arsenal, such as tactical or short-range weapons. And that’s what Putin is threatening today,” added the former president.

He added that in his opinion, the addressee of these threats is the Western world. – We are dealing with scaring the Western world, including Poland, from the de facto beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war – he said.

“Putin threatened many times, but he threatened verbally. He suggested that perhaps he was willing to use such a weapon. Today he decided to go a step further and says: “I will deploy tactical nuclear weapons closer to your borders.” But you can see that it did not make much impression on NATO and the USA – said the TVN24 guest.
