Jubilee 75th edition of Berlinale – the International Film Festival in Berlin – is slowly coming to an end. The jury led by the outstanding filmmaker Todd Haynes awarded the Golden Bear “Drømmer” directed by Dags Johan Haugerud.
The 75th International Film Festival in Berlin – commonly known as Berlinale – reached its climax. On Saturday evening, the main competition prizes were awarded – including the most important – the Golden Bear. Berlinale is included in the “Big Five” – the most important film festivals in the world. This group also includes: Sundance Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, the International Film Festival in Venice and the International Film Festival in Toronto.
Berlinale 2025. Jury led by Todd Haynes
This year, 19 films were presented in the main competition, including one documentary. The jury decided to be awarded about which one of them was awarded after the leadership of Todd Haynes. It is worth recalling that the outstanding American filmmaker in 1991 received Teddy Award – a award for the best Queer film – for his debut full -length story “Poison”. The film is referred to as one of the first of the so -called new wave of queer cinema. In the following years, Haynes became famous for such films as “Idol”, “Far to heaven”, “I'm not here. Where else I am”, “Carol” or “Obsession”.
Next to Haynes, the jury of the main competition was: Chinese actress Fan Bingbing, German actress and filmmaker Maria Schrader, Argentine filmmaker Rodrigo Moreno, French-Maroconian filmmaker Nabil Ayouch, German costume designer Bina Daigler and American writer and film critic Amy Nicholson.
