Bet Awards 2025. Snoop Dog and Radzimir Dębski Jimek on one stage

Snoop Dogg was one of the four stars appreciated by the Ultimate Icon Award during the Monday Bet Awards 2025 gala. The legendary rapper also had a chance to make a set of his biggest hits. And all this in the company of the orchestra under the baton of Radzimir Dębski, also known as Jimek.

Bet Awards are awards appreciating black people and representatives of other American groups insufficiently represented in public space for their achievements in music, film, sport and philanthropy. They are currently awarded in 21 categories by representatives of the music industry, the media and bloggers. The show – as we read on the official website – “attracts the brightest stars of music, film, television and sport to honor talents shaping culture developing together.”

In 2015, a special Ultimate Icon Award was created. It is appreciated by the creators whose achievements are considered cult by both fans and critics, due to a significant contribution to culture. In 2015-2020, only three people were honored with it: Whitney Houston (2015), Debra L. Lee (2018) and Tyler Perry (2019).

This year – during the 25th edition of Bet Awards – special laurels were awarded to four black legends: Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Franklin and Snoop Dogg. For the latter, this is a special form of appreciating his over 30 years of career. Receiving the prize from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg appeared on the stage in the company of his wife Shante Broadus, which he married in 19977.

The rapper thanked his teachers, colleagues, children, grandchildren and “beautiful wife”, which is his “greatest inspiration”. – It is thanks to her that I am hard as a rock. If there is God in my life and my queen, I can face everything. Always (wife – ed.) Has been everything to me – said the rapper.

The artist also said what the term “icon” means to him. – Hip-hop gave me a voice. He gave me a goal – he emphasized. – Being an icon has nothing to do with fame. It's about the legacy. About everything you build, what you leave behind and who you support on the way – he said.

After a short break, Snoop Dogg returned to the stage. It quickly turned out that the performance was accompanied by a small orchestra conducted by a Pole Radzimir Dębski, also known under the pseudonym Jimek. The Polish composer, musician, conductor and music producer attracted international attention in 2012 when he was elected by Beyonce to remix her single “End of Time”.

Over the past decade, Dębski proved himself primarily thanks to unique projects in which he connects the world of hip-hop and symphony orchestra. His compilation “Hip-Hop History”, which was part of the “2015” concert prepared jointly with Miuosh (Miłosz Borycki) and the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio, became an international hit. A huge part of the 38-year-old's achievements to date is authorship or making music for film and television productions. Only in recent years he composed music for such films as “The art of loving. The story of Michalina Wisłocka”, “Panic attack”, “Woman from …” or “Silence of the night”.

During the eight -minute performance, Snoop Dogg reminded his biggest hits, including “Unsung Heroes”, “Drop It Like It's Hot”, “Nuthin 'But A' G 'Thang,” Outstanding “or” Ain't No Fun (if the homies can't has) “. Charlie Wilson joined Snoop Dogg during “Outstanding” or Warren G and Kurupt in the closing compilation “Ain't no Fun (if the homies can't have none)”.
