The Border Guard has published recordings showing how, over the course of a week, migrants on the Belarusian side are trying to destroy the Polish border sign. First they tried to set it on fire, and now – on Tuesday – they tried to knock it down.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning near Białowieża (Podlaskie Voivodeship). In the evening, the Podlasie Border Guard Branch published a short video showing a person on the Belarusian side of the steel barrier trying to – using a tree branch – destroy or at least damage the Polish border sign.

At that time, another person threw stones at the intervening soldier.

According to Maj. Katarzyna Zdanowicz, spokesman for the Podlaskie Branch of the Border Guard, these people were masked and very aggressive. She recalled that the border sign carries national symbols – the emblem and colors.

The Border Guard points out that incidents involving aggressive people on the Belarusian side of the steel barrier on the border are still recurring. Most often, they involve throwing stones or tree branches at Polish services.

Last Monday, near Czeremcha, the Border Guard also recorded an attempt to set fire to a Polish service post located along the border road. The recording published on Tuesday shows one or two people overcoming the barrier, running to the police station and trying to set it on fire, then running away when they saw the approaching patrol.
