Białuty. Night apartment fire. The man saved his life by jumping from the window

On the night of April 5-6, a fire broke out in an apartment in Białuty (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). The man, wanting to save his life, jumped out of a window on the second floor. The 49-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries to multiple organs.

Firefighters were notified about the fire around midnight. A fire broke out in one of the apartments on the second floor of a multi-family building. Seven units of state and volunteer fire brigades were sent to the site.

– When firefighters arrived, practically the entire apartment was on fire. 19 people evacuated from the building – said junior brigadier Grzegorz Różański, spokesman for the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship Commander of the State Fire Service.

The firefighter said that according to witness accounts, a man was trapped in the burning apartment and jumped out of the window to save his life. The 49-year-old was taken to hospital.

The inspector will assess the condition of the building

The fire brigade spokesman said that the remaining apartments were not affected by the fire. – Some apartments were flooded with water, all utilities were cut off in the entire building – he added. The evacuated people took shelter with their loved ones.

The building supervision inspector will assess the condition of the building and decide whether it is suitable for habitation. At this moment it is unknown what caused the fire. The police are investigating the case.
