In BiaĆystok (Podlaskie Voivodeship), a drunk 36-year-old hit a lamppost with his car. He was carrying a five-year-old daughter. An off-duty police officer pulled the child out of the car. The girl’s father blew more than two per mille. He will be responsible for driving while intoxicated and exposing the child to danger.
As reported by sub-inspector Tomasz Krupa from the Podlaskie police, this dangerous-looking event took place in the Bialystok TBS housing estate. The driver of the Renault lost control of the car and hit a lamppost. The witness of the situation was a police officer from the Police Prevention Department in BiaĆystok, who was on leave.
– He was sitting nearby in the car and reacted immediately when he heard a huge bang. He ran out of the car to help the injured. The driver got out of the vehicle under his own power and claimed that he did not need medical attention. He added that there is another child in the car. The police officer took the crying five-year-old out of her car seat and led her to safety. He informed the Bialystok duty officer about the incident, who called the services, Krupa reported.
He blew more than two times the legal limit, he was charged
While talking to the driver, he smelled alcohol on his breath. A breathalyzer test showed that the man had more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The police stopped the 36-year-old driver’s license. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and endangering a child, police said. He is punishable by up to five years in prison. He will also be held responsible for causing the collision in court.
Nobody was hurt in the incident.
