The first graduation tower in Białystok, which was opened in June on Pieczurki Street, cannot be used. At first, the pump failed, and now the facility is closed until further notice. The causes of the failure are being determined. The city authorities hope that it will be repaired as soon as possible. Especially since there are plans to build four more graduation towers.
– I encourage everyone to visit the first graduation tower in Białystok. It looks impressive and can do a lot of good for your health – said the mayor of Białystok, Tadeusz Truskolaski, on the opening on June 19.
He opened a brine graduation tower on Pieczurki Street, built from the civic budget. It cost almost PLN 600,000. It was constructed from wood and blackthorn branches, which increase the concentration of salt in the brine by partially evaporating it. In the microclimate created in this way, one can inhale, which is important in the prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, hypertension and allergies. The city plans to build four more graduation towers.
The pump was the first to break down.
Users didn't get to enjoy the first one for long, though, and it was broken almost from the start. Now it's been closed until further notice.
– The original cause was a pump failure. The contractor repaired it, but three days later the graduation tower stopped working again – says Urszula Boublej, the president's spokeswoman.
They are determining what happened
He adds that investigations are currently underway to determine which element broke and who is responsible for it – the contractor or the designer.
– Regardless, all repairs are carried out under warranty. The city does not bear any additional costs, apart from the most important one – that residents cannot use the graduation tower, and they liked it very much because it attracted a lot of people – the spokeswoman emphasizes.
When we ask if the city will charge any fines, he says that it would be best if the fault was fixed as soon as possible and the graduation tower was back in operation. “So that there would be no need to think about any fines,” Boublej tells us.
Two years ago, there was a lot of talk about the Białystok toilet
In 2022, there was also a lot of talk about another investment in Białystok – a public toilet near the Branicki Palace.the construction of which cost over PLN 400,000. In that case, the city council imposed penalties.
The toilet, built in the fall of 2022, could not be put into service because it had technical defects. The contractor had to build a new toilet. It can be used from the beginning of July 2023.
