The investigation initiated by the Białystok prosecutor’s office was conducted in the direction of exceeding the powers of the police officers, failure to perform their official duties and unintentional manslaughter. Now the case has been transferred to the prosecutor’s office in the neighboring province, which is waiting for the results of the autopsy.
“During the post-mortem examination, an expert from the Department of Forensic Medicine of the Medical University of Bialystok took samples for toxicological and histopathological tests. We are waiting for the expert’s opinion and the results of the tests” – Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Ostrołęka, wrote to us in an e-mail.

“Providing more information about the findings made in the course of the preparatory proceedings is not possible due to the good of the proceedings. As soon as the good of the proceedings does not stand in the way, the prosecutor’s office will immediately inform the public and media representatives about the ongoing proceedings” – noted Elżbieta Edyta Łukasiewicz.
As reported in May, the spokesman for the Podlasie police, sub-inspector Tomasz Krupa, uniformed officers arrived at ul. Wierzbowa after information that someone is running on the road, running between cars and trying to get into them. The report was received before 6 am.

– During the activities, the man lost consciousness and vital functions. Unfortunately, despite the rescue measures taken, his life could not be saved, the spokesman noted.
Four officers participated in the intervention. They had body cameras. The recordings from these cameras were secured for the purposes of the proceedings. Street surveillance footage was also secured.
At first, the investigation was conducted by the Białystok prosecutor’s office
Before the investigation was transferred to the prosecutor’s office in the neighboring province, it was conducted by the Białystok-Północ District Prosecutor’s Office.
Its head, Michał Toruński, told TVN24 reporter Adrian Zaborowski in May that an investigation had been launched into police officers exceeding their powers, failing to fulfill their duties and unintentionally causing the death of a 24-year-old.
The police also initiated their own control of activities at the site of the intervention.
