PLN 100,000, nearly PLN 4.5 thousand euro and two thousand dollars. The 89-year-old gave this amount to the man who came to her apartment. He pretended to be an officer of the Central Bureau of Investigation. Earlier, she had been called by another scammer who asked if she would be home because he had a parcel for her. Police officers from Białystok appeal for caution and are looking for the perpetrators.

It all started when a man pretending to be a postal worker called the 89-year-old's landline. He informed her that he had a parcel addressed to her.

“The senior citizen was not surprised because she had already received parcels from her family, so she confirmed her presence at home,” we read in a message on the website of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Białystok.

She heard that a group of thieves wanted to rob her

A few hours later the phone rang again. This time, the 89-year-old woman heard a different male voice on the phone. The caller identified himself as a policeman CBŚP. A senior citizen heard that a group of thieves wanted to rob her.

“The fraudster said that in order to protect her savings, the senior woman had to pack the money and give it to the officer who would come to her house. He added that she would also have to go to the police station with him,” the police reported.

She went to get dressed. There was no one at the door anymore

The frightened 89-year-old prepared PLN 100,000, almost PLN 4.5 thousand. euros and two thousand dollars and handed them to the man who knocked on the door. However, she asked him to wait for her for a while because she had to get dressed. When she returned, there was no one at the door. The senior then realized that she had fallen victim to fraudsters and notified the services.

The officers are looking for the perpetrators and are reminded once again that neither the police nor prosecutors demand money or inform about the activities being carried out. They once again appeal to older people to be vigilant when talking to strangers and to use common sense when making financial decisions.
