Bialystok. Unreliable invoices in the trade of masks and gloves. CBŚP detained four people

The services, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Białystok, detained four people suspected of participating in an organized criminal group that used unreliable VAT invoices for a total amount of PLN 180 million. Invoices were issued in the sale of personal hygiene products. Two of the detained persons were arrested for three months.

“Police officers of the Białystok Central Police Investigation Bureau and officers of the Customs and Tax Service from Podlaskie CASH, under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Białystok, detained four people suspected of participating in an organized criminal group. The activities were carried out in the Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship CBSP.

During the operation, the officers secured commercial documents, telephones and IT data carriers, which are subject to thorough analysis.

They were to create a network of poles

According to the investigators, the criminal practice of the members of the group consisted in creating a network of fictitious business entities, the so-called poles that issued unreliable invoices in trade, e.g. personal protective equipment, i.e. masks and disposable gloves.

“In this way, the group underestimated the taxes due, leading to a depletion of the State Treasury by about PLN 40 million. According to the findings of the investigation, the group’s members could have issued unreliable VAT invoices for a total amount of PLN 180 million” – informs CBŚP.

Two suspects were taken into custody

The detained persons were charged with the so-called invoice crime, money laundering and participation in an organized criminal group.

Based on the collected evidence, two suspects were temporarily arrested for three months.
