Courageous people inspire and make the world a better place, wrote US Ambassador Mark Brzezinski on social media, who hosted a reception on Wednesday to award TVN journalist Bianca Zalewska with the International Women of Courage award. “An admirable commitment!” he added in the post.

Bianka Zalewska, war correspondent and reporter for “Dzień Dobry TVN”, received on March 8 at the White House International Women of Courage Award (International Award for Women of Extraordinary Courage), which is awarded by the US Department of State. She is the first Polish woman to receive this award. In addition to the journalist, 10 women were also distinguished this year, including the well-known Ukrainian medic and volunteer Julia Pajewska and participants of the protests in Iran.

Reception at the US Ambassador

On Wednesday, a party was held to celebrate Bianca Zalewska’s IWOC award, hosted by the ambassador USA in Poland Mark Brzezinski. As the US Embassy reminded, the journalist was awarded “for courage and selflessness in documenting war in Ukraine and showing the challenges faced by the Ukrainian people for more than a decade.

“Brave people inspire and make the world a better place. The International Women of Courage award is a recognition for outstanding women. In her journalistic work, Bianka Zalewska draws the attention of the international community to the fate of Ukrainians. Admirable commitment!” Ambassador Brzezinski wrote on Twitter.

The U.S. Embassy posted photos of Wednesday’s event on social media.
