Biedronka – Polish Post. Pocztex postal machines will be installed next to the shops

Biedronka announced the expansion of cooperation with Poczta Polska to include locations for parcel machines. In the first half of 2022, parcel lockers under the Pocztex brand are to be placed next to shops in at least 750 locations, the network announced in Monday.

The cooperation between the Biedronka network and Poczta Polska is to enable “convenient sending and collecting parcels from vending machines while making everyday purchases”. The first devices are to be installed in car parks at the Biedronka network outlets in the first quarter of 2022.

Pocztex vending machines will be placed next to Biedronka stores

“Customers will be able to make a card or BLIK payment directly at the Post Office for postage and cash on delivery” – we read in the release. Pocztex vending machines will be available in two sizes and will have 60 or 80 boxes.

“We are modifying the product portfolio and at the same time raising service standards, implementing dedicated functionalities. We have just signed a contract for the supply of parcel machines to provide customers with a network of 2,000 such devices in 2022” – said Tomasz Zdzikot, president of Poczta Polska, quoted in the announcement.

At the beginning of November, Allegro launched its own network of parcel machines. In the first stage, 600 devices were built, and by the end of 2022 there will be at least 3,000 of them. InPost announced last month that it already has 15,000 parcel machines all over Poland.


No trade – open stores

Biedronka in July this year. as a test, it expanded cooperation with Poland. Under the agreement, shipment pickup tests began directly in stores in “single locations”. As a result, Biedronka opens some of its stores also on non-trading Sundays.

The exception relating to postal points of contact is also referred to by other retail chains that decide to open stores on non-trading Sundays. At least for now, until the entry into force of the amendment to the regulations sealing the ban on Sunday trading.

From September 26 this year. Netto opens some of its stores on Sundays. Starting from Sunday, September 5, Lidl will also open some offices “due to the development of postal services”. Kaufland, belonging to the same Schwarz Group, also decided to take such a step.

Carrefour Polska from October this year. introduced courier services in 129 own stores thanks to cooperation with Poitpack. This means that outlets may be open on non-trading Sundays. Auchan Retail Polska has also signed an agreement with Pointpack. Therefore, courier services have been gradually launched in Auchan’s stores since October. Customers can drop off or pick up parcels. Aldi is considering opening stores on non-trading Sundays.

On Sundays subject to the trade ban, not only smaller and larger grocery stores, but also DIY stores open.

The act that introduced restrictions on Sunday trading has been in force since March 1, 2018. However, there is a catalog of 32 exemptions. The prohibition does not apply, among others in post offices.
