Huge difficulties at the Warsaw railway junction after a failure at the Warszawa Zachodnia station. – Repair work is in progress. The difficulties may last until Saturday, said PKP PLK spokesman Karol Jakubowski.
Due to the failure, some trains have been canceled, others have delays of up to 90 minutes. For almost an hour with Warszawa Zachodnia train station no commuter train left westbound. Passengers were stuck in trains for a long time.
The failure was caused by the vehicle of the repair contractor
– Around 4 p.m., the vehicle of the contractor for the renovation of the station of traffic control devices at the Warszawa Zachodnia station in the west direction was damaged. After about 50 minutes, train traffic was restored, but this is not a scheduled traffic – noted Jakubowski.
He added that PKP technical teams and contractors were working on site. – They declare that on Saturday the situation will be normalized – he stressed.
ZTM had previously informed about the difficulties. He warned that there may be delays, cancellations, shortenings of SKM trains of the S1 and S2 lines and KM trains running on the sections Warszawa Zachodnia – Zalesie Górne / Warszawa Chopin Airport / Pruszków / Płochocin.
“From 16.10, mutual recognition of KM and ZTM tickets was introduced in all public transport vehicles in the 1st and 2nd ticket zones” – ZTM informed earlier in the release.
