Black Bialystok. Medical waste in the cemetery. They check how they got there

Infectious medical waste was placed in a container at the cemetery in Czarna Białostocka (Podlaskie Voivodeship). Two companies from Białystok are targeted by environmental protection inspectors. For now, it is not known whether the waste was placed in the container intentionally or simply by mistake.

Inspectors of the Department for Combating Environmental Crime and the Provincial Inspectorate for Environmental Protection in Białystok intervened at the cemetery in Czarna Białostocka. All because of about 20 bags of infectious medical waste discovered in a container in the necropolis area.

“The performed official activities made it possible to identify two medical entities from Bialystok that produced the waste in question and the entity collecting the waste” – the communiqué stated.

For now, it is not known whether the waste was placed in the container accidentally or intentionally. As WIOŚ emphasizes, the proceedings in the case are ongoing.

For non-compliant storage of waste that may pose a threat to human life or health, the penalty may be up to five years in prison. In addition, the environmental protection inspection may impose an administrative financial penalty from one thousand to even one million zlotys.
