For me, John Paul II is a saint not because the congregation said so, but because I am a believer who deeply believes that he is in heaven. But he is not God – said Błażej Kmieciak, chairman of the state pedophilia commission in “Kropka nad i”. He assessed that “if we do not open the church archives”, materials such as the report “Franciszkańska 3” – which shows unknown facts from the life of Karol Wojtyła – “have every right to be created”.

Błażej Kmieciak announced on Monday that he was resigning as chairman of the state pedophilia commission. He will hold this position until April 14. However, Kmieciak will remain a member of the commission. In a statement, he explained that his decision was dictated by changes in the competences of the commission and the duties of its head.

In the evening of that day, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24, Kmieciak stated, among other things, that “I want to tell the injured people very clearly, very clearly that if they continue to trust him, he is for them.”

He also talked about his previous work in the commission, including cases concerning the abuse of minors by clergy. In this context, he was asked about report by Marcin Gutowski “Franciszkańska 3”in which the reporter showed evidence that Karol Wojtyła knew about pedophilia in the Church before he became pope. Kmieciak admitted that when he watched the report, he felt that questions were “growing up” in him.

– I will define one of the most important for me: (…) In the situation of a man with an unusual approach, completely unheard of for bishops at that time – bishop, then cardinal Karol Wojtyła – how is it possible that everything indicates that the curia was closed ? Kmieciak asked.

He stated that he is a believer. For me, faith is something that gives me strength. In situations when I felt like – many times in almost three years – to throw it all, I won’t say where, it was faith that gave me the strength that it made sense. Pope John Paul II He spoke about the fact that faith has meaning, that our life has meaning, he pointed out.

– I understand the thinking of some who say: But we love John Paul II. I say: But I love my wife. For me, John Paul II is a saint not because the congregation said so, but because I am a believer who deeply believes that he is in heaven. But he is not God – said the TVN24 guest.

In his opinion, “we really confused the sacrum of the altar with the profane of the curia.” – Let’s not confuse these issues, because in the curia I do not have someone who is a second Christ, I only have an archbishop, I have a cardinal or a curial officer – he added.

According to him, “if we do not open the church archives, which the state commission has stubbornly been asking for for a long time, then this type of materials has every right to be created.”
