Former spokesman for President Andrzej Duda, Błażej Spychalski, took up his position in Orlen, Gazeta Wyborcza reported on Wednesday. On September 30, the presidential spokesman announced that he was finishing his work as a minister in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. More than two weeks earlier, in a Twitter entry, he denied reports that he was applying for the position of a member of the Orlen management board.
The first media reports about Błażej Spychalski’s move to Orlen appeared on September 12 in the Onet program. According to the sources of the portal, Spychalski would replace Adam Burak on the Orlen board, a close associate of Daniel Obajtek. Burak is responsible for communication and marketing.
Spychalski referred to these reports on Twitter on the same day. “I am a bit surprised, I found out today that I am applying for the position of an Orlen board member. I deny – I do not strive” – he wrote on September 12.
At the end of September, Spychalski ceased to be a minister in the Chancellery of the President
In turn, on September 30 the presidential spokesman announced that he was finishing his work as a minister in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland. However, it is still supposed to support the head of state as a social advisor.
“I would like to thank President Andrzej Duda for the trust he placed in me over 3 years ago! It is a great responsibility and honor to serve Poland by his side, it is also a great time for me personally. Today I am finishing my work as a minister, but I will continue to support the president as a social advisor” – wrote Spychalski on Twitter.
He also thanked all those who supported him, his associates, and the press office employees. “You are a great team that gives your best every day! I would also like to thank the journalists for their daily cooperation,” he wrote.
Spychalski was appointed the secretary of state in the President’s Chancellery and the president’s spokesman in September 2018.
