After a collision of a tanker and a passenger car, the A1 motorway towards Gdańsk between the Kopytkowo and Pelplin junctions was blocked for several hours. One person was killed in the accident and two – according to the fire brigade – were transported to hospital.
The accident happened around 10:30 in the village of Bobrowiec, between the Kopytkowo and Pelplin junctions (Pomorskie Voivodeship).
– There was a collision of a passenger car with a truck – informed the person on duty at the Road Information Point in the Gdańsk branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
According to the services, the driver of the car probably ran into the back of the tanker. As informed by St. Cpt. Karina Stankowska, from the fire brigade in Starogard Gdański, traveled by three people in a passenger car. – A 48-year-old man died on the spot, two people were hospitalized – said Stankowska. And she added that gas was probably transported in the tanker. – As a result of the collision, however, there was no leakage, there is no threat – emphasized the spokesman of Starogard firefighters.
Difficulties on A1
The A1 motorway towards Gdańsk was blocked. And road workers, at the Kopytkowo and Pelplin junctions, recommended detours for drivers through national road 91 and provincial road 234. GDDKiA informed after 2.30 pm that the obstruction on the road was over.
