The family was relaxing at an unguarded swimming area in Boguchwałowice (Silesian Province). The 42-year-old entered the lake to fish out a ball. He disappeared under the water's surface 15 meters from the shore. Firefighters fished him out a dozen or so minutes later, and paramedics performed resuscitation for an hour, but it was unsuccessful.
The tragedy occurred last summer weekend at the Przeczycko-Siewierski reservoir in Boguchwałowice. It is an unguarded bathing area.
According to police, a 42-year-old man was vacationing there with his family. They were playing a ball that fell into the water. The 42-year-old entered the lake to fish it out. He was about 15 meters from the shore when he suddenly disappeared under the water.
Emergency services, police, fire brigade and Water Volunteer Emergency Medical Services were called to the scene. After a dozen or so minutes of searching, firefighters pulled the man to shore. The Medical Rescue Team immediately attempted resuscitation, but after about an hour of fighting for the man's life, it was not possible to restore his vital functions. The doctor present at the scene pronounced him dead.
