Fatal accident in Śmiłowo (Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship). The cyclist was hit by a car. He died on the spot. The circumstances and causes of this tragic event are being investigated by the police under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
On Friday (April 21), around 8:50 p.m., the services received a report of an accident that occurred on a poviat road in Śmiłowo in the Sępólno poviat. A car hit a cyclist. – Three fire engines were sent to the spot. By the time the first team arrived, an ambulance was already on the scene. Rescuers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation – said junior brigadier Dariusz Chylewski from the Poviat Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Sępólno Krajeńskie.

The task of the firefighters was primarily to secure the scene of the accident and help in resuscitating the cyclist. “Unfortunately, after 9 p.m., the rescuers withdrew from rescue activities due to the injuries of the victim,” Chylewski added.
The road at the scene of the accident was blocked for a long time. Police officers and the prosecutor who will explain the exact circumstances and causes of the incident were on the scene.
– The driver of the bicycle, a 30-year-old resident of the Więcbork commune, was riding in a lane intended for riding in the opposite direction. The driver of a passenger car, a 38-year-old resident of the Bydgoszcz poviat, driving from the opposite direction, swerved to the opposite lane in order to pass a cyclist. At that time, the cyclist moved to the right lane and collided head-on with the vehicle, said Małgorzata Warsińska, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Sępólno Krajeńskie.
