The court in Bolesławiec (Lower Silesia Province) has ruled to sentence a man suspected of murder to three months of detention. The 58-year-old perpetrator allegedly beat the victim to death with a metal pipe.
The spokesperson for the District Prosecutor's Office in Jelenia Góra, prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, announced on Monday that the 58-year-old man has been charged with murder and, at the request of the prosecutor, the court imposed a three-month temporary arrest on the suspect.
“The murder was supposed to have taken place last Wednesday, but law enforcement agencies were notified about it on Thursday. Three people – two men and a woman, after returning from a funeral, were drinking alcohol in the apartment. An argument broke out between the men and the 58-year-old beat the 46-year-old with a metal pipe, leading to his death,” the prosecutor said.
She added that the case was reported to the police only the next day by the woman, who claimed she was so drunk that she did not notice the murder.
Charged with murder
The prosecutor explained that the man was charged with murder under Article 148, paragraph 1 of the Penal Code. He faces at least 10 years in prison.
