The driver of the Alfa Romeo near Sobótka in Lower Silesia wanted to avoid a road check. The 35-year-old was determined, the chase ended only in the middle of nowhere. The man ran away because he was convinced he was drunk. However, the breathalyzer test did not confirm this.

The Wrocław traffic police carried out sobriety checks for drivers at the entrance to Sobótka. Officers noted that one of the drivers most likely wanted to avoid meeting them. The man quickly turned his car and drove in the opposite direction. The policemen ran up to the police car, turned on the light and sound signals and followed the Alpha Romeo.

The man, however, ignored the signals given by the policemen, accelerated sharply and began to run away.

– The 35-year-old was stopped after a few minutes, the chase ended in the field. There were handcuffs on the man’s hands, and the policemen began to explain the reasons for his behavior – reports Paweł Noga from the press office of the Wrocław police. The driver admitted to the policemen that he was drinking alcohol in the morning and therefore he was afraid of meeting the uniformed. – But to his surprise the breathalyzer showed that he was sober, and the trace amounts shown on the display are not even an offense – says Noga.

However, after checking the man’s data in the police systems, it turned out that he did not have the right to drive vehicles. The 35-year-old faces up to five years in prison for not stopping the inspection. The court will decide about his fate.
