National Stadium or the Silesian Stadium – it is not known in which of these two locations the Polish national team will play next year. Zbigniew Boniek spoke about the home of the Polish national team. “Today's Polish Football Association loves him”
The fact is that since the beginning of 2023, the team has played all its home matches at the National Stadium. However, she last visited the legendary Silesia region almost three years ago on the occasion of the play-off against Sweden for the 2022 World Cup. And she was unlikely to return there anytime soon. – A hysterical decision – commented Zbigniew Boniek, who spoke on this matter again.
“Apparently, the BoÅ„ko PZPN did not like the Silesian Stadium. But today's PZPN loves it. Here are the facts: during my term, after the opening of the Silesian Stadium (2018), we played five matches (South Korea, Ukraine, Portugal, Netherlands, Italy). The current PZPN played one match against Sweden in four years. If there were no Covid and the hospital at Narodowy Street, it would be zero matches'. Facts, not politics,” wrote the former president of the Polish Football Association on website X.

Narodowy's operator argued that the organization of the national team's matches had generated losses for him in recent years. But in general, the facility made money, which cannot be said about ÅšlÄ…ski. “According to the Local Government Portal, the cost of maintaining the facility in 2022 amounted to PLN 70 million and was much higher than in previous years. In addition, the voivodeship is repaying the loan taken out for the construction of the facility (until 2030). Interestingly, the current operator of ÅšlÄ…skie did not share information about the costs and losses generated by the facility. Two years ago, the Stadion ÅšlÄ…ski company's National Court Register recorded accumulated losses from previous years amounting to over PLN 210 million,” wrote Kacper Sosnowski from Sport.pl.
