Books started to disappear from the Municipal Public Library in Żory (Silesian Voivodeship). The case was reported to the police. Officers detained the 53-year-old when she was returning home with her books. They also found dozens of other books there. Now she faces up to five years in prison.
Police officers from Żory were informed several times by employees of the local library about the theft of books. A 53-year-old reader, suspected of theft, usually visited them in the morning. The loot each time – according to the police – was supposed to fall from a few to a dozen or so publications.

– Knowing about the woman’s habits, the law enforcement officers decided to wait for her. On Tuesday (January 17 – ed.) they detained a 53-year-old woman from Żory, who was heading to her place of residence with books in her bag. And this time, as many as nine studies fell into her hands, with a total value of over PLN 300 – reports Asp. Marcin Leśniak from the police in Żory.
Officers found dozens of books in the woman’s apartment. The Municipal Public Library in Żory estimated their value at almost PLN 2,000. Now, as Leśniak announces, the case will go to court. The 53-year-old faces up to five years in prison for the theft.
