This is how manual management of the economy, of State Treasury companies by losers like Jacek Sasin ends. He is a failure. We saw this during envelope elections. However, here the losses are even greater – said Borys Budka, MEP of the Civic Coalition and previously Minister of State Assets. He referred in this way to the submission by the management board of PKP Cargo to the prosecutor's office of a notification of a suspected crime committed by Jacek Sasin.
PKP Cargo informed in a current report, presented on Wednesday morning, about filing a notification to the prosecutor's office regarding the suspicion of committing a crime by the former Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin. This is about coal transportation.
“The Management Board of PKP CARGO SA in restructuring (“Company”, “PKP CARGO”) informs that today it filed a notification with the District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw about a suspicion of committing a crime by Mr. Jacek Sasin, serving as Minister of State Assets in the years 2019-2023″ – we read in the company's current report.
She specified that the suspicion of a crime concerns the failure of the minister of state assets to fulfill his obligations. It would consist in the failure of the ministry headed by Jacek Sasin “to conclude with PKP CARGO SA the necessary agreement related to the implementation of the order indicated in the decision of the Prime Minister (…) regarding the transport of coal purchased by the companies: PGE Paliwa Sp. z oo and Węglokoks SA in order to implement the aforementioned Decision by – which was to the detriment of public and private interests”. Such action led to the occurrence of large-scale property damage on the part of PKP Cargo – the company noted.

According to him, “these were orders issued informally to the boards of companies, orders that were intended to conceal the government's incompetence.”
– Let me remind you that this is how they bought, among other things, coal that was no good for anything and is still lying in the port in Gdańsk and no one knows what to do with it. This is also how they instructed companies to transport this coal in a completely unprofitable way. And all this happened on the political orders of, among others, Jacek Sasin. This will be investigated by the prosecutor's office. I suspect that it may end with very serious prosecutorial charges – he added.
Jacek Sasin, commenting on the notification to the prosecutor's office, said that when he resigned as the head of MAP, PKP Cargo did not have such problems, it ended the year 2023 with a small, but still profit. – A question for Budka and Jaworowski what happened. Terrible management of the company that they dismantled this company, or they deliberately want to close PKP Cargo, because German railways want to enter the Polish market – he added.
– Sasin's scandalous words, he is responsible for the situation in the company. For eight years PIS he brought many such companies to the brink of bankruptcy. In addition, there are also scandalous connections with some trade unions. There was really incredible mismanagement in these companies and of course the effects are coming now. Jacek Sasin will answer to the prosecutor, I hope he will answer to the court, because the scale of decisions that led to what is in the company today is enormous – said Budka.
The MEP stressed that “this is the political responsibility of Jacek Sasin, the political responsibility of PiS politicians.”
– Today we are trying to save this company. The new management is doing everything to at least to some extent protect the company from bankruptcy. However, it is a scandal that people like Sasin or Morawiecki pretend that this case does not concern them. This is their full responsibility. I am convinced that the prosecutor will also prove this in court – he emphasized.

PKP Cargo is the largest rail freight carrier in Poland. The PKP Cargo Group offers logistics services, combining rail, road and sea transport. It provides independent freight transport in Poland and Czech, Slovakia, German, Austria, Netherlands, Hungarian, Lithuania and Slovenia. The largest single shareholder of PKP Cargo is PKP SA, which has 33.01% of shares. On July 25 this year, the District Court in Warsaw opened the restructuring proceedings of PKP Cargo, in which it decided to open the restructuring proceedings of the debtor – PKP Cargo. A day earlier, the PKP Cargo management board decided to carry out group layoffs, covering up to 30% of employees, i.e. up to 4,142 employees in various professional groups.
