The State Agency for Investigations and Protection of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIPA) informed about the attempt to arrest Milorad Dodik, a pro -Russian nationalist ruling the Serbian Republic. This was prevented by armed police officers who protected the leader of Bosnian Serbs. The incident occurred in Sarajevo Eastern.
– SIPA officers tried to follow a court order and arrest the leader of the Serbian Republic of Milorad Dodik in the eastern Sarajevo – said Sipa spokeswoman Jelena Miovcic on Wednesday. She added that SIPA officers tried to talk about armed policemen who protected Dodika, but they warned that they would “use force”.
Convicted by a court in Sarajevo
At the end of February this year, the Court of First Instance in Sarajevo sentenced Dodik to a year in prison and six years of a ban on performing public functions for hindering the implementation of the decision of a high representative of the international community in Bosnia and HerzegovinaChristian Schmidt. This institution supervises the implementation of the provisions of the peace system with Dayton, which ended the war in the 90s in the Balkans.
The prosecutor's office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is investigating the alleged assassination of the country's constitutional order against Dodik, which is wanted by arrest warrant on the basis of the decision of the Bosnia and Herzegovina court.

The Klix portal published photos of SIPA officers and police officers at the entrance to the headquarters of the authorities of the Serbian Republic, where Dodik stayed on Wednesday. “Sipa informed us that during the action they were threatened to use force, and the act of the interior ministry of the Serbian Republic should be documented as a crime of armed rebellion,” wrote Klix.
Three entities
Bosnia and Herzegovina are made up of three entities – the Serbian Republika Serbian, Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which Bosnian Muslims and Croats dominate, and a small Bryczko district. Both autonomous parts of BiH have their own presidents, governments, parliaments and are connected by weak central institutions based in Sarajevo.
