Dead humback was thrown ashore in Rio de Janeiro. The mammal measuring six meters was found on the city beach on Saturday morning. The security and removal surgery lasted several hours.
On Saturday, the fire brigade received a notification regarding Whaling on one of the city beaches in the Barra Da Tijuca district in Brazilian Rio de Janeiro. When the services arrived, it turned out that the animal was already dead.
Difficult operation
The Brazilian media reported that the corpse belonged to a humbak six meters long. The operation of removing a dead animal lasted about four hours and required the use of heavy equipment. There were also biologists from the University of Rio de Janeiro, who monitored the entire operation. The Humbak's body will be taken to the University Laboratory, where experts will conduct an autopsy.
– The migration season of these animals is underway, so it happens that some of them land in the coastal region after death and find them agility. We then conduct a section and take samples to identify the factors that could contribute to their death – explained the Reuters Yasmin Daoualiba agency, a veterinarian from the water mammary laboratory of the University of Rio de Janeiro.
