Brecon Beacons: Main operation launched to rescue injured man trapped in cave system for 2 days | UK Information

A rescue mission has been launched to save lots of a person who has been trapped inside a cave system within the Brecon Beacons since he was injured two days in the past.

The South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Workforce mentioned the person fell whereas caving in Ogof Ffynnon Ddu, a cave system close to Penwyllt on Saturday.

The person is alleged to be unable to climb out of the cave due to the accidents he suffered within the fall.

The character or severity of his accidents is unclear.

Emergency companies had been notified by one other caver and since then a minimum of eight rescue groups from throughout the UK have joined the operation.

Concerned are the Gloucester Cave Rescue Group, Midlands Cave Rescue Organisation, Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, Mendip Cave Rescue, South East Cave Rescue Organisation, the Cave Rescue Organisation, and Higher Wharfedale Fell Rescue Affiliation.

Situated inside a nature reserve, Ogof Ffynnon Ddu – which means Cave of the Black Spring – was found in 1946 and is 300m deep at its lowest level, with its underground caverns stretching over 30 miles.

Solely skilled cavers are granted permission to discover inside.
