The District Court in JasÅ‚o (Podkarpacie) received an indictment against a 17-year-old boy who organized a rally through the streets of the city with a stolen car. The teenager did not have a driving license, ignored the police’s call to stop and damaged two cars. He ended his ride at a roadside lamp post.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in JasÅ‚o. She charged the 17-year-old with two charges. The first concerns breaking into a passenger car and its theft and damage, the second is the failure to stop the vehicle for police control. The first offense is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, the second by up to five years.
The indictment in this case was sent to the District Court in Jasło.
He charged through the streets of the city, broke a number of laws
The event took place on October 18, 2022 in JasÅ‚o. As Commissioner Piotr Wojtunik from the local police informed at that time, around 8 p.m., the uniformed officers were informed about a driver who had no lights on while driving through the city streets. – The policemen noticed the vehicle on one of the streets, gave the sound signals to the driver to stop, but he started to run away – described Wojtunik.
As he reported, the driver – during the escape – broke a number of road rules: he did not comply with the signs and traffic lights, which was supposed to pose a threat to others.
On Lenartowicza Street he lost control of the car and hit two vehicles. He ended his daring escape on 3 Maja Street on a roadside lamppost. He left the vehicle and tried to flee on foot, but was stopped by the police.
The driver turned out to be a 17-year-old resident of JasÅ‚o. He did not have a driver’s license, the breathalyser showed that he was sober. Officers determined that the car in which the 17-year-old escaped was previously stolen.
