The police detained a man who attacked and robbed a priest who was celebrating a carol in Jasło (Podkarpackie Voivodeship). The 37-year-old has already pleaded guilty to the allegations. By court decision, he will spend the next three months in custody.

The incident took place on December 29 after 7 p.m. on Polskiego Czerwony Krzyż Street in Jasło. One of the priests from the church of Saint Stanislaus BM in Jasło, who went to carol that afternoon, he was attacked by an unknown man. – A hooded man approached the priest and, brandishing a knife, took his sachet, which contained an aspergicide, a prayer book, holy pictures and pastoral materials – reported then Commissioner Piotr Wojtunik, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Jasło.

The officers established and questioned the witnesses of the event, secured and analyzed the monitoring and secured evidence. – As a result of the conducted activities, they identified and detained the suspect. He is a 37-year-old resident of Jasło – Wojtunik tells us now.

On Wednesday (January 11), the man was taken into police custody. On Thursday (January 12) – according to a policeman – he heard a charge of robbery with the use of a dangerous weapon, to which he admitted and made an explanation.

By the decision of the District Court in Jasło, the 37-year-old was subject to a preventive measure in the form of a three-month detention.

The crime is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
