On Thursday, Britney Spears married her 12 years younger Iranian actor and model Sam Asghari. The ceremony, held at the star’s Los Angeles estate, was disrupted by the singer’s first husband, Jason Alexander. The police intervened, the man was arrested.
Britney Spears met Sam Asghari in 2016 on the set of the video for the song “Slumber Party”. The then twenty-two-year-old Iranian in the video played the role of the organizer of a crazy party, picked up by Britney. After shooting, he gave her his number and she asked him on a date. They began to meet regularly, eventually announced that they were in a relationship. In September 2021, Asghari proposed to the singer, and she accepted the proposal.
The couple wanted to get married earlier, but it was impossible due to the singer’s legal problems. For almost 14 years, Spears was under court-ordered guardianship – that is, the legal guardianship of one adult over another – by her father. It was the result of the mental problems that the star fell into after divorcing her second husband, Kevin Federline, in 2007. The guardianship was lifted only last year. Soon after, Spears became pregnant with Asghari, but announced that a few weeks ago miscarriage.
Britney Spears’ disrupted wedding
Ultimately, the wedding took place on Thursday, June 9 in Los Angeles. Spears’ first husband, Jason Alexander, her friend from her youth, tried to interrupt the ceremony. Their marriage, concluded in 2004, lasted only 55 hours. They got married on the spur of the moment in Las Vegas, and after two days they decided it was a joke and asked for it to be annulled.
Just before the ceremony began, Alexander broke into and roamed the Spears property where the wedding was taking place in search of the bride and groom. At the same time, he kept telling the security guards who tried to stop him that he was “the first and only husband” of the singer. Later, he managed to get inside the house of a 40-year-old star. And everything was immortalized in the live report he ran on Instagram.
As reported by the TZM portal, the intruder was eventually overpowered by security and thrown outside the Spears property. The singer’s entourage reported an intrusion, and the police appeared on the scene. Officers found Alexander and took him into custody. The man heard the charge of intrusion and vandalism.
Celebrities at Britney’s wedding
Page Six, citing a witness account, said Britney was “shocked” by the incident, but did not want to postpone the ceremony. Spears and Asghari got married in the presence of about 60 people, including many stars, incl. Paris Hilton, Donatella Versace, and Drew Barrymore. The singer’s parents and her sister were not on the guest list.
