While playing in the garden, the son of a resident of Brzeziny (Małopolskie Province) met an unusual guest. An iguana crept onto the property, which – as it turned out – had been wanted by the owner for almost a week. The reptile lounging on the roof of the gazebo was brought down by the police.

The unusual police intervention took place on Friday (July 21) around 2:30 p.m. The Oświęcim uniformed officers received a report from a resident of Brzezinka that her son, while playing in the garden, noticed a “big strange lizard” basking on the roof of the gazebo.

Police: Walked two kilometers

As reported by the Lesser Poland police in a communication, one of the officers who arrived at the scene climbed onto the roof of the gazebo and then threw a curtain lent by the owners of the property over the iguana.

“Despite the resistance, the iguana was quickly caught and put in the police car, where he waited for the arrival of the veterinarian. He was taken to the hospital (…), from where the owner picked him up in the evening” – inform the police.

– It was a resident of the commune of Oświęcim, who had been looking for his pet since last Saturday. It turned out that the reptile walked about two kilometers from the place of residence – told us Małgorzata Jurecka, a spokeswoman for the Oświęcim police.
