An officer of the Central Police Investigation Bureau detained an off-duty drunk driver. A 70-year-old man got behind the wheel of a delivery car with nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body. Now he will appear in court.
On Thursday, February 8, a policeman from the Kielce branch of the Central Police Investigation Bureau, while off duty, while driving through Brzeziny, noticed a Ford delivery van moving in a zigzag pattern. Suspecting that the driver may be under the influence of alcohol, the officer took action.

“The policeman (the policeman – ed.) notified the Kielce police station about the situation and then took advantage of the favorable situation and stopped the vehicle in front of him, preventing it from driving any further,” said Małgorzata Perkowska-Kiepas, a junior midshipman, spokeswoman for the Kielce police, in a statement. – The policeman blocked the driver’s path and prevented him from escaping – explained Sub-Inspector Kamil Tokarski from the Świętokrzyskie police in an interview with tvn24.pl.
The patrol who arrived at the scene tested the 70-year-old Ford delivery driver with a breathalyzer. It turned out that he had 1.4 per mille of alcohol in his body.
“The man has lost his driving license, and he will have to answer to court for driving under the influence of alcohol. He may face a penalty of up to 3 years in prison for this act,” Perkowska-Kiepas said.
