President Andrzej Duda, during the opening of the “Leaders for the New World” panel at the Planet Budapest 2021 conference, said that the Visegrad Group is increasingly becoming a platform for important discussions on wider topics. – Thirty years of its existence shows that we are able to give our community development impulses thanks to the dynamics and potential of our citizens – said the Polish president in Budapest.
Planet Budapest 2021 is a conference of companies from the Visegrad Group countries that operate in sectors related to the subject of sustainable development, under the patronage of the President of Hungary. The most important topics of the meeting are energy and environmental protection, as well as the paths for companies from the V4 countries to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and the possibility of adapting to the principles of sustainable development.
During the opening of the “Leaders for the New World” panel, President Andrzej Duda said that he was glad that the Visegrad Group – in addition to a forum for exchanging experiences and working out common positions on issues important for the future of the region and the EU – is increasingly becoming a platform for important discussions on other , broader topics.
According to Duda Duda, “30 years of V4 existence shows that we are able to give our community development impulses thanks to the dynamics and potential of our well-educated, talented and creative, and above all hardworking citizens”.
– We are able to restore the development of Europe on the right track (…) or recharge Europe, even with this extremely important, positive energy – emphasized the president. – The pandemic has led to the evolution of business models. It accelerated the development of innovation and the implementation of new technologies, especially in the fields of medicine, e-commerce, remote education, administration and logistics. The Internet of Things, Big Data and machine learning have grown in importance, he added.
Invitation to make contacts
The president said that the number of innovations has also increased in Poland, and some of them will be available at the exhibition accompanying the V4 summit. He also encouraged contacts with representatives of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH), who provided information on the economic and legal environment in Poland.
The Polish president added that apart from the V4, there is also the Three Seas Initiative, under which “we strive to develop innovative and intelligent transport, energy and digital solutions”. He encouraged to learn about the opportunities that – as he argued – created by this format.
– Poland, as part of the recovery after the slowdown caused by the pandemic, as part of the long-term development strategy, will focus on areas such as infrastructure investments in strategic areas, sustainable transport, health, digitization and innovation, as well as on the great challenge of a fair energy transition towards a neutral economy climate – announced Duda, emphasizing: – We will try to reconcile healthy economic growth with care for the natural environment and the climate even more effectively.
At the same time, the president said that for many years “the emissivity of the Polish economy has been falling and GDP is growing, which is a characteristic feature of our region, unique in the world”.
