A policeman from the Michałów police station was patrolling the area around the Siemianówka reservoir when he noticed smoke and flames above the forest near the village of Budy. The officer notified the officer on duty at the Białystok police station and rushed to help. The officer on duty passed the information on to the firefighters and the energy emergency workers.
The fire spread to nearby houses and properties.
He evacuated the residents and took out the gas cylinders.
“There were six people there who were trying to save their belongings. Strong winds spread the flames, so the policeman evacuated the residents. He himself extinguished the fire using all available means,” we read in a statement on the website of the City Police Headquarters in Białystok.
After a while, the officer learned that there were gas cylinders in the houses towards which the fire was approaching.
“Before the fire brigade arrived, the officer removed two cylinders from the buildings,” the statement reads.
There were 25 fire brigades on site.

– Two residential buildings and five farm buildings burned down – he notes.
