Police officers from Bukowno (Lesser Poland Voivodeship) received a report about unusual behavior of one of the inhabitants of the commune. The man was walking around his yard with a “weapon-like object”. The officers went to the place and secured a rifle from the Second World War.
The report about the bonfire and a man with a gun walking around it was received by the duty officer from the police station in Bukowno last Tuesday. The police announced the case eight days later, on Wednesday.
Police officers who arrived on the scene found a man sleeping in the yard, with a gun lying next to him. They secured it and handed it over to a weapons and ammunition expert. “Preliminary findings show that it is probably a Gustloff Werke 317k rifle from World War II” – informs the Małopolska police.
If the expert proves that a permit is required for the seized weapon, the resident of Bukowno will face up to eight years in prison.
