A bus accident in Australia that killed 10 people and injured more than 20 involved many members of a sports team from the city of Singleton. The British newspaper The Guardian wrote on Monday that the entire community of the region is moved by this event.

Newlyweds Mitchell Gaffney and Maddy Edsell are also players on the men’s and women’s teams. Club representative Melanie Sunderland said she was “still unsure of the details” of the incident.

The team received information that many team members were among the injured. Police said emergency services at the scene “were confronted with a traumatic sight”.

Joanna Towers, a local high school teacher, said she had often driven through the roundabout where the accident had occurred, but she did not know how the accident could have happened. She admitted that for many Singleton residents this event will have an impact, because a large part of the city lived by the progress of the local club. “We have a lot of students who play for the Roosters team and are part of the Roosters community,” she explained.

“It will have a huge impact on our city. It’s too terrifying to think about, she said. – It seems that the accident happened for no reason. The young couple took part in something beautiful, but in connection with this event, it will never be remembered like this – she added.
