In Busko-Zdrój (Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship), a 55-year-old man was caught stealing sweets from one of the local shops. The man had more on his conscience and was wanted to serve his sentence. On the same day, he was sent to prison.
Tomasz Piwowarski, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Busko-Zdrój, reported that on Wednesday the district officers went to one of the shops in the city to intervene.
He stole sweets worth over PLN 21. He had more on his mind
– The staff reported the theft of groceries, including chocolate bars for a total amount of over PLN 21. In addition to the store service, the uniformed found a 55-year-old suspected of theft, reported the uniformed officer.
The man was fined for the offence.
– The intervention, however, did not end there – emphasized Piwowarski. According to the police, the 55-year-old was wanted by the District Court in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski to serve a sentence of 75 days in prison for a crime against property. On the same day, he was brought to the prison.
The number of thefts is increasing
In 2022, 476,000 criminal offenses were recorded – 8,000 more than in 2021. Theft is the scourge – most often alcohol and expensive cosmetics disappear from stores, although there are thefts explained by poverty – “Rzeczpospolita” recently reported. Last year, thefts reached 124,000. – that’s over 12,000. more than the year before (not counting offences).
