Prosecutor’s office: penalty higher than what we applied for

The court turned out to be stricter in its assessment than the prosecutor’s office. We are satisfied with the verdict. We will not sue him because the penalty is higher than what we applied for. We demanded two years of imprisonment for the accused – Aneta Wodecka, the head of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Busko-Zdrój, tells our portal.

The case of misappropriation came to light when the director of PCPR was concerned about unclear transfers made from the account of her institution. She asked the bank employees about the matter. Then it turned out that the money was not going to the accounts it should have been. They credited the private account of the chief accountant – Marta D.

The director of the institution notified the starosty and then the prosecutor’s office about the case.

“I wish such crimes were punished even more severely”

The starost of Buski, Jerzy Kolarz, in an interview with tvn24.pl, admits that he is pleased with the pace at which the court dealt with the case of the former accountant of the district center.

– The verdict came quite quickly, which is nice. I believe that the court meted out a fair punishment, although I would prefer that such crimes were punished even more severely. Most likely, however, the former accountant will appeal against this verdict, the local government official estimates.

The County Office has still not recovered the money that was taken out of PCPR. – We are checking with lawyers to what extent it will be possible to try to recover the property that has been secured by the prosecutor’s office at this stage. Perhaps the money can be recovered from another property belonging to Marta D., but in this case a different, separate process is pending, so nothing is certain yet. For now, we only know that something will be recovered, because the property has been secured – says Kolarz.

Another such thing. The principal of the high school will answer to the court

This is the second case of similar irregularities that have recently occurred in the Busko district. Last autumn, Tomasz G., the director of the Secondary School in Busko-Zdrój, was detained. The man is suspected of appropriating over half a million zlotys from school collections.

In March, the prosecutor’s office announced that Tomasz G. had filed an indictment with the court. He faces up to 20 years in prison.

As we found out in the autumn in the poviat starosty, Tomasz G. had been working at the high school in Busko for about 10 years and there had been no complaints about his work before. On September 1 last year, he appeared at the beginning of the school year. The next day he went on vacation. Shortly thereafter, the deputy director notified the police of the suspected misappropriation of money.
