The incident took place on November 4 in Bydgoszcz. At the signals, the ambulance driver drove a red light at the intersection of Kamienna and Wyszyńskiego Streets. Another car hit her at that moment. The force of the impact was so great that the ambulance rolled over on its side. Among others, Paweł Wojciechowski, the former world champion in pole vault, came to the rescue.

– My friend said the ambulance capsized. First, I asked him if he was joking, because he was not kidding about such things. I was shocked when he confirmed that the ambulance really was upside down. Without thinking about anything, I moved. I had quite a long distance to cover, about 400 meters, and I got there practically in line with the police car – says the athlete.

The accident was recorded by a camera in another driver’s car. The recording was published by piracidrogowi.pl.

An ambulance driver who was driving alone was injured. The man was hospitalized, luckily the injuries did not endanger his life and health. There were three people in the passenger car, including a child, but none of them was hurt.

As Paweł Wojciechowski says, he is terrified that at the beginning no one ran to help.

– One thing was terrifying that no one ran up, no one helped. I was the first to get there from that distance – he says. “The first thought that happened to me, what will happen, how will it happen to me, or if no one stops,” she adds.

As the police found out, the culprit of the accident was the ambulance driver, because although he had the light signals turned on, he should make sure that he was doing it safely when entering the intersection at a red light. The man was fined.
