The warehouse of a paper production plant in Bydgoszcz is on fire. The fire spread to the interior and roof of the building. The spokesman for the Bydgoszcz fire brigade said that the fire had been contained and was no longer spreading, but it would take at least a few more hours to extinguish it. There is no information about any injured people.
Firefighters received a report on Sunday after 1 p.m. about a fire in a warehouse at Ernsta Peterson Street in Bydgoszcz. The warehouse belonging to a paper producing plant is located in an industrial park in Bydgoszcz.
After 4 p.m., the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service informed that the fire had been localized and there was no possibility of spreading any further. In total, almost two thousand square meters burned, but six thousand square meters were saved.
– Firefighters controlled the fire in the production and warehouse hall of a cardboard packaging plant in Bydgoszcz, the fire is not spreading – said Karol Smarz, spokesman for the Bydgoszcz City Headquarters of the State Fire Service, after 5 p.m.
The spokesman emphasized that the fire had been contained and the fire was not spreading to the rest of the hall divided by fire walls. However, in the part covered by the firefighting operation, fire spots appear from time to time in various places.
Two thousand-liter sodium hydrochloride tanks were removed from the facility before the fire could spread. 53 fire brigades were involved in the firefighting operation. St. captain Smarz noted that it would take at least a few more hours to extinguish and extinguish the fire.
They test the air quality
A specialist chemical rescue group from Toruń also appeared on site.

There is no information about any injured people. The employees managed to evacuate outside.
– The firefighters and policemen working on site do not have an easy task. The fire is large. There were flammable materials in the hall and this caused the fire to spread so quickly. The action may take several hours. There were six employees inside. Everyone managed to leave the hall. Nothing happened to them, said Commissioner Lidia Kowalska, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Bydgoszcz.
The Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivode, Michał Sztybel, reassured residents about possible air pollution. “At this moment, no threat has been identified. If the situation changes, we will keep you updated,” the voivode wrote.
