City guards from Bydgoszcz – thanks to the photo trap – managed to identify the man who threw the tires into the forest. The detainee explained that he wanted to save five zlotys that he would have to pay for leaving the tires when replacing them. The guards fined him 500 zlotys.
The man did not expect that the tires thrown away by him – in a secluded place – would cost him several hundred zlotys.
– Thanks to the records from the photo trap, city guards quickly identified the perpetrator, who was then visited by the patrol. The man explained to the officers that he wanted to save five zlotys from the fee for leaving tires when replacing them, and therefore decided to get rid of them on his own – she informed Municipal Police in Bydgoszcz.
The man was obliged to remove the tires from the forest and was fined PLN 500.
They bet on camera traps
The authorities of Bydgoszcz are fighting against illegal littering of urban areas. In early May, the city announced the start of a project called “Zero Litter Tolerance”.
– We installed photo traps in the most sensitive parts of the city. After a successful pilot, we decided to expand the network of camera traps, and since the summer holidays we have been conducting activities thanks to which many perpetrators of offenses will be punished and – very importantly – obliged to clean the area – explain officials from the Bydgoszcz city hall.
Currently, there are 52 photo traps in 32 different locations in Bydgoszcz.
