Police officers from Bydgoszcz checked the behavior of drivers and pedestrians as part of the “Safe Pedestrian” campaign. In one day, on one street, they found 60 offenses. Pedestrians committed them more often by crossing a red light or running into the road.

The “Safe Pedestrian” campaign was carried out on November 8 on Wojska Polskiego Avenue in Bydgoszcz. Its aim was to improve the safety of pedestrians as road users. The ITS monitoring system operated by the Municipal Roads and Public Transport Authority in Bydgoszcz was used.

As part of their activities, the police paid attention to the behavior of drivers towards pedestrians, but also to the pedestrians themselves. The recording shows, for example, pedestrians crossing or running across the road or tram tracks with red lights.

The most common driver offenses included: speeding near pedestrian crossings, failing to give way to pedestrians or incorrectly crossing pedestrian crossings.

Pedestrians crossed the road in prohibited places, when the light was red, or entered the road in front of moving cars.

The police appeal to all road users to obey the regulations and be careful and cautious when driving on the road.
