Bytom. Attempt at self-judgment at the swimming pool. Four men arrested for harassing children

Four people were detained after a brawl that took place on Saturday at the city swimming pool in Bytom in Upper Silesia. They allegedly exhibited “socially unacceptable behavior” towards minors. The police inform that despite the report and reaction, the crowd wanted to punish the men themselves. There was a scuffle, the police used tear gas.

It happened on Saturday, July 15, around 5 p.m. at the municipal swimming pool in Bytom at Wrocławska Street. – We were indeed forced to intervene there. We received a report about some inappropriate behavior of a group of men in relation to minors, said Commissioner Anna Lenkiewicz from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Bytom on Sunday.

“The girl informed her mother that a man in her 50s was accosting her”

As reported by the Municipal Office in Bytom, the policemen were informed about the case by security staff of the swimming pool, who received two reports: from two boys and from the mother of a girl using the swimming pool.

“The girl informed her mother that she was being harassed by a man in her 50s. The mother reported this to security. The boys notified the security guards that the same man allegedly harassed them while playing in the water. The security guards immediately intervened. They led the man and his three companions out of the pool and informed the police,” the city said in a statement.

Scuffles in the pool. The police used gas

Despite the quick reaction of the police, the witnesses themselves tried to punish four men aged 18 to 48. The cops didn’t allow it. There were scuffles and shouting. – The crowd reacted emotionally. The officers used gas to prevent the escalation of aggression, Lenkiewicz said.

The City Hall in Bytom reported that the detainees were citizens Georgia.

– An action with the prosecutor is scheduled for tomorrow. And it is the prosecutor who will decide whether and what allegations will be heard by the detained men and whether they will be heard by all, one or two, added the Commissioner.
