11 fire brigades put out a fire that broke out in the attic of one of the tenement houses in Bytom (Silesian Voivodeship). One firefighter was injured during the operation.

Firefighters received information about the fire on Friday just before 1 p.m. According to the report, the fire appeared on the third floor of a tenement house at Karola Miarki Street in Bytom.

The injured firefighter was taken to the hospital

On the spot, it turned out that two rooms on the side of the outbuilding, in the attic, were on fire. The residents of the building were evacuated.

– Forces and resources in the first echelon turned out to be insufficient, additional hosts were dispatched, among others, from Chorzów, Świętochłowice and Piekary Śląskie – said the aspirant Szymon Michalski, the press officer of the Bytom fire brigade. A total of 11 fire engines were at the scene of the fire.

One firefighter was injured during the firefighting operation. The man was taken to the hospital. Apart from the fireman, no one was injured.

The fire has now been extinguished and demolition work is underway at the site. It is not yet known what caused the fire. – Traffic on the street next to the building has already been cleared – informed Michalski.
