Police officers from Słupsk wanted to stop the Renault driver for inspection. He started running away, after a while he lost control of the car and hit a tree. The driver and passenger were taken to hospital. The man had almost two per mille of alcohol in his body.

The incident took place on May 10 at Ogrodowa Street in Bytów. Słupsk police officers checked the sobriety of drivers. Around 5 a.m., one of the officers went onto the road to show a passing driver where to stop. However, instead of stopping, he passed him and started running away.

“The driver of the Renault accelerated significantly and turned into Ogrodowa Street, and after driving several hundred meters, he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree,” we read in the police statement.

The 36-year-old driver and his 32-year-old passenger had trouble getting out of the car, which was heavily damaged as a result of the impact. An ambulance was called to the scene.

A man with a limb injury and a woman with a head injury were taken to hospital. A breathalyzer test showed that the 36-year-old had almost two per mille of alcohol in his body. After checking him in the police IT system, it turned out that he did not have a driving license.

The police collected blood for tests to find out whether the man was also under the influence of drugs.

Traces were secured at the scene and documentation was prepared. The police will determine the exact circumstances of this accident.

Driving under the influence of alcohol is punishable by up to three years in prison.
