English-speaking separatists in Cameroon
The separatists began operating in the English-speaking regions of northwestern and southwestern Cameroon in 2016. Then teachers and lawyers protested their marginalization by the French-speaking government.
The separatist riots were firmly suppressed by Cameroonian security forces. The conflict has led to the deaths of around 3,000 people and the displacement of nearly a million.
