Can developers take over allotment gardens? Warsaw has made a surprising change

Poles love ROD, or Family Allotment Gardens. There are almost five thousand of them in Poland, with a total area exceeding 40,000 hectares. Does Warsaw want to eliminate allotment gardens? There is the city's response

As she said InteriaMarcin Szumowski, reporter of the “Czysta Polska” program Polsat Newslearned that there are spatial development plans in the Masovian Voivodeship that assume the liquidation of some RODs. In Warsaw alone, as many as 70 allotment gardens may be at risk in various ways. There are 153 such gardens in the city. 50 gardens are to be treated as “architectural barriers” in the planning policy. Allotment gardeners were scared that this was an excuse to eliminate the “barriers”, i.e. ROD in this case.

However, the Warsaw City Hall informed Polsat News that the plots were called “architectural barriers” due to their “size and location in the structure of the city's space.” Mapson which it is written, “are intended to be material constituting the basis for further conversations and analyses.”

An important ministry supported allotment gardeners. “Family allotment gardens will remain protected”

However, the Ministry of Development and Technology took a preventive stance on the side of allotment gardeners and promised that “allotment gardens will be included in the so-called basic profile in all planning zones.” In other words, the plots are safe (for now).

On the other hand, we have assurances from the authorities of Warsaw, but also from the Ministry of Development and Technology, that family allotment gardens will remain protected “- writes the Better Poland Association.
