The 77th Cannes Film Festival has come to an end. The Palme d'Or for best film went to “Anora” directed by Sean Baker. The verdict of the jury chaired by Greta Gerwig can be perceived as a changing of the guard in world cinema.

The 2024 Cannes Film Festival has come to an end. Over the past 11 days, the French capital of film has welcomed world stars, renowned and debuting filmmakers, a crowd of several thousand journalists from various corners of the globe, as well as a multitude of film fans. After all, the stakes are as always high: the most prestigious film award – the Palme d'Or, which is described as the cinematographic equivalent of the Nobel Prize in literature.

22 titles qualified for the Main Competition. This year's chairman of the jury of this competition is one of the most interesting American filmmakers of her generation, Greta Gerwig. She created “Lady Bird”, “Little Women” and “Barbie” – the highest-grossing film in history directed by a woman.

The jury included: Spanish filmmaker JA Bayona, Turkish actress and screenwriter Ebru Ceylan, renowned Italian actor and producer Pierfrancesco Favino, American actress of indigenous origin Lily Gladstone, legendary Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda, Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki, French actress Eva Green and French actor Omar Sy.
