The largest non-governmental organizations, including Caritas Polska, have joined the aid campaign for flood victims. – We are focused on long-term aid. The more we collect, the greater the chance of this – explained Marcin Majewski, spokesman for Caritas Polska, on TVN24.
Money to help flood victims will be collected, among other places, in churches after Sunday masses.
Caritas collection for flood victims
– This is more of a decision of the Polish Episcopal Conference. Therefore, this is the decision of the chairman and in fact today this money will be collected and it will reach the flood victims through Caritas Polska. I do not hide the fact that we as Caritas Polska are focused on long-term help. Therefore, it is important for us that the more we collect, the (greater – ed.) chance that this help will be really long-term – explained Majewski.
He added that “last year there was a big flood in Slovenia” and Cartias has “experience working there”.
– There was also a fundraiser in Poland and we know that it will last for a really long time. There too, Slovenia we helped rebuild houses, for example. Therefore, we know that it simply takes time. In addition, of course, we still encourage you to support our collection through the website caritas.pl. There is all the available data – he appealed.
– We are in contact with the dioceses that suffered the most during the flood, i.e. the dioceses of Świdnica, Poland, Legnica and Bielsko-Żywiec, and we are asking about these needs – explained Majewski.
Collections for flood victims
Residents of southern Poland are struggling with floods and their dramatic effects. Hundreds of financial and material collections have been launched throughout the country. The largest non-governmental organizations have joined the campaign, including the Polish Red Cross, Caritas Poland, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, and the TVN Foundation.
